We'll be one of 45+ studios open at Keystone Art Space.
I love this photo by the talented Louise Flores. It's on the same street as my studio - you can see where I get some of my painting inspirations from - and we staged it with the red cloth to mimic one of my paintings!
Loved doing this interview for Singulart's online magazine:
Their questions made me connect some dots between where I came from (as global nomad), how my technique and voice have developed over time, and where I'm at in the Los Angeles art scene. I also got to think about which contemporary (as-in, still living) artists influence me, which was challenging at first because my go-to influences are artists who have passed. But it was exciting to realize how much stimulating art is being created all over the world - it's a great time to be alive!
I hope you enjoy and let me know in the comments if you learned something new.
Join me tomorrow for my Curator Talk where I will walk you through the show, Memories on Location, talking about why I chose each artist and details about specific pieces. Here's a teaser:
I'm so proud of how Memories on Location turned out! Not only did the work look good together in this industrial space, but each individual artist shone. As one of them put it, "You can tell these artists are committed to exceptional craftsmanship."
