Inspiration from My Yoga Studio

I get inspiration from places that make me feel safe, and one of these is my yoga studio. In fact, I’ve made 2 paintings to-date inspired by the view out their window (which I often view upside-down in downward facing dog pose!). Here’s one of them - with artistic license, of course!

When I mentioned this to the lovely staff of One Down Dog, they invited me to hang 4 of my paintings in the Eagle Rock location for the month of September, celebrating Yoga Month. I will be present doing an Art Pop-up and selling prints on Sept. 15 (9am-12pm) and Sept 18 (4-8pm).

Check location hours if you want to stop in and view the paintings at other times (no yoga required!). Paintings also available through my SHOP.

Open Studios - June 9 - Studio C14

I moved into a new studio in April, sharing with the talented Kim Marra. Our work compliments each other and it's been such a joy to have her energy and inspiration in the studio. We invite you to join us on SATURDAY JUNE 9, 6-10PM as we open our door wide. EVENT DETAILS

Loved doing this interview for Singulart's online magazine:

Their questions made me connect some dots between where I came from (as global nomad), how my technique and voice have developed over time, and where I'm at in the Los Angeles art scene. I also got to think about which contemporary (as-in, still living) artists influence me, which was challenging at first because my go-to influences are artists who have passed. But it was exciting to realize how much stimulating art is being created all over the world - it's a great time to be alive!

I hope you enjoy and let me know in the comments if you learned something new.

Meet Oni, the Studio Dog

Meet Oni, my 7-month-old puppy and studio dog (in training). He can be a bit of handful running around the studio and getting into everything - he particularly loves eating blue tape - but he's a sweetheart too and will do anything for treats (even pose for his silly master).

Oh, and Happy National Pet Day (just found out about that)!

StARTup Art Fair: Video & Photos from Room 321

The StARTup Art Fair was an exhilarating success! Over the course of the 3-day art fair, my fellow exhibitor, Shannon Amidon, and myself gave away hundreds of cards and talked to close to a thousand people about our art. Here's a video of our room on Day 1:

The Fair takes place at Hotel del Joie in the Marina District of San Francisco. It was a gorgeous, sunny weekend, which helped bring out a record number of attendees. We transformed our regular hotel suite into a gallery by moving all the furniture, papering the walls, bringing additional lights and hanging our work without nails - it's magic! It was a lot of work, but well worth it. You can see a big of our process in this slideshow:

I couldn't have asked for a better exhibition partner! We were honored to have both been selected off our joint exhibition proposal, Seeking Harmony, a theme which really resonated with many of our audience.

Oh yes, and we got some press coverage too:

I'll be posting more about the couple of new series I debuted at the event soon, so stay tuned.
