Daily Routines of Famous Creative People

It's worth looking at the quotes at the bottom of this infographic to understand how important routine is to the creative person. For example,

Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you can be violent and original in your work.
— Gustave Flaubert
I keep to this routine every day without variation. The repetition itself becomes the important thing; it’s a form of mesmerism. I mesmerize myself to reach a deeper state of mind.
— Haruki Murakami

Also interesting to note how few of them had day jobs; how little exercise they did; and how their creative work is spread out across a day, not all in one lump. Of course, most of these people lived before the age of the internet and the worship of multitasking, much to their credit:

I never could have done what I have done without the habits of punctuality, order, and diligence, without the determination to concentrate myself on one subject at a time.
— Charles Dickens
Order and simplification are the first steps toward the mastery of a subject.
— Thomas Mann
